This is a fawn axis deer mount. The axis deer is native to India. The axis deer’s native country is where this pieces title is derived from. The Indian name for this deer is Chital. The hide and antlers of the axis deer are some of the most beautiful and impressive of all the species of deer. 
   This taxidermy mount is one of the most challenging pieces that Allen has had the privilege to work on. “The physical labor of a piece like this is not that intense, but capturing the detail of the delicate ears, eyes, nose, etc. is a very difficult task.” Because of the delicate nature of this piece Allen opted to tan the hide him self rather than risk the hide getting damage at the tannery. Over all this is a neat conversation piece that is both life like and cute.
